Cooling time 2 hours hrs
Total Time 3 hours hrs
- 1 box Cake mix Any kind of cake mix will work. Try not to get the "Moist" mix. If you get Moist use less frosting.
- 1 tub Cake frosting Not buttercream or whipped
- Baking spray
Preheat oven to 350 °F and prepare cake mix according to directions on box
1 box Cake mix
Use Baking Spray or grease and flour a 9x13 cake pan and cook for 35-45mins or until toothpick test is clean. Baking spray
Once cake is done baking make sure to do the toothpick test, if toothpick does not come out clean place back in oven for 5 more minutes.
Allow to cool completely. You can take the cake out of the pan and place on a cooling rack to help with the cooling time. When cake has cooled completely take pieces of the cake and crumble it into a large mixing bowl. Add ¾ of the tub of frosting to the cake crumble and mix thoroughly until combined. *DO NOT use the entire tub of frosting as the cake will be too moist.
1 tub Cake frosting
The cake should now be moist enough to roll into 1½-inch balls, or shapes you desire, and still hold that shape. You can use a cookie scoop to get an accurate ball shape. After rolling the cake balls or shapes, place them on a wax paper lined baking sheet
Cover the cake balls with plastic wrap and chill in refrigerator for 2hrs. or you can put in the freezer for 15mins. Make sure the balls are firm but not frozen.
You are now ready to decorate your cake pops.
