Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 bag candy melts You can also use a bag of Hershey Kisses.
  • 1 pkg Oreos
  • Valentine Sprinkles

Instructions

  • Pour 1 cup, at a time as needed, of candy melts into equipment of choice for melting. Melt the candy making sure to stir occasionally until candy is smooth.
    1 bag candy melts
  • If using microwave melt the candy for 30 seconds, stir and melt for another 30 seconds. Continue the process stirring every 30 seconds to keep the candy from burning, until candy is completely melted and smooth.
  • Place your silicone molds on a baking sheet (make sure you have room in your refrigerator for the baking sheet)
  • Pour melted candy into silicone mold about ½ to ¼ of the way. If using double broiler, use a ¼ cup measuring up to pour candy into mold.
  • Take an Oreo and place it in the silicone mold pressing down gently until the candy starts to cover the cookie leaving only the top of the cookie visible.
DO NOT PUSH ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM!
    1 pkg Oreos
  • Pour 1-2 tbsp of melted candy over the top of the Oreo to cover completely. Slightly shake the baking sheet to level out the candy.
  • Top off with Valentine Sprinkles.
  • Put Oreos in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or until hardened. If you are needing them in a flash you can put them in the freezer if you have room for 5-10 minutes

Notes

I prefer to use Wilton Candy Melts when I do any kind of candy dipping. Their candies melt smoothly when heated properly and have a shiny smooth finish to them.
Generic or off brand melts have a tendency to have wax in them to set the candy when it dries which will give the finished product more of a matte, dusty finish.
You can find Wilton brand at hobby stores such as Michaels, Hobby Lobby, JoAnn’s and on Amazon
I prefer to use a Pyrex microwave safe measuring bowl/cup when melting the chocolates to make pouring easier.
