Meet The Family
Trista- The Creator, Mom and Wife
Years ago, I decided I finally wanted to write a Cookbook the only problem, actual paperback/hardback books just aren’t the “in thing” anymore, as far as cookbooks anyway. Everybody is getting recipes off Google, Pinterest or Blogs and I soon realized that was the way I was going to have to go if I wanted my dream to come alive.
I grew up in a very crafty family. My mom made all our Halloween costumes, birthday cakes, and homemade lollipops for our Holiday class parties. And although I have some crafty talents of my own, I would have to say I enjoy baking and cooking more.
For my 20th birthday, one of my Aunts gave me my first Rune set. I would do a few castings here and there and fell out of practice for many years. When my daughter started to take a liking to Tarot, she got me digging out my runes again and I have gotten back into doing castings. I have been able to research and reconnect with a side passion of mine in Astrology and my sign as a Virgo. Connecting with the earth, moon and sun and finding a better understanding of who I am as a person. I have since gotten to buy a whole new set of runes and some crystals, along with Tarot and Oracle cards. It feels good to get back to practicing again.
When my daughter was 2, I decided to go to school to be a stylist. My original plan of action was to do styles and make up for weddings and ended up with a hidden talent for color and cutting. A huge fear of mine, in which after graduating I was so convinced that I had made a huge mistake. After putting in my two weeks at my first salon job the manager (who later became a great friend) took me aside and gave me the additional training I needed to see my hidden talent. And after cutting hair behind the chair for 20 years I had to put up my sheers due to an injury I sustained in a car accident resulting in surgery.
I recently just quit my second job at Total Beverage Westminster CO, after a year working at the same liquor store as my husband. It was probably one of the best second jobs I have worked in a long time. While working there, I got to broaden my taste and experience for many different liquors, wines, and even beer. I am not a big beer enthusiast whatsoever; however, I am amazed that I have been able to find a few that I do like. Wine and liquor on the other hand is still a learning curve.
Steven- Supportive Husband, Step-Dad and Beer Enthusiast
I am currently the Beer Supervisor at Total Beverage in Westminster CO. I have been working there for over 4 years and have taken a liking to the experience and knowledge I have gained. I started out as a cashier and quickly moved to the floor starting out in the wine department, and then moving to be a beer team lead, I was then promoted to Beer Supervisor. I have knowledge of Liquor and wine but would have to say my passion is with beer. If you have any questions or looking for a local place for spirits, wine and beer with a large selection click on the Total Beverage name to link you to the store website.
I was a bull rider for three years when I finally made Pro in 2004; before my accident during one of my rides in 2005 which lead me to early retirement from riding. I then went on to be a ranch hand before meeting my wife in 2006.
I am a history buff at heart and enjoy history novels both fiction and non-fiction having to do with war and the history of our country. Since reading those stories I have taken a liking to ghost adventures in old historic graveyards, and buildings. As a family we try to go to new places as often as we can to see what we might be able to experience.
Jordyn- Daughter, Editor and Theater Tech & Design Major
I grew up as the taste tester. I would stand next to my mom or grandmother as they cooked, too young to really do anything but too curious not to be involved. I would be given spoon after spoon of food, each bite tasting better and better. It was a bonding experience for me, but it also solidified my love for the cooking and baking craft. My mom was never afraid to try unique ingredient combinations, she learned from every dish she made; that philosophy has really inspired me as an artist today.
The love for arts and crafts did not skip a generation. From drawing, to playing instruments, baking, and much more, I found my passion for live theatre and designing the stage when I was young. I am currently pursuing my career in Theatre Design and Technology as a Scenic Designer; I love being able to share my passion with my family as well as broaden my skills as a designer and artist by learning from them.
When I was 17, I asked for my first Tarot Deck. I never had any previous exposure until my friend showed me her deck. I took it slow, bonding with my deck and taking a one card pull every day. I started connecting with my spirituality, the Earth, and nature. It was very healing to me and being able to share that with my mom is very special.
On my 21st birthday, my parents hosted a Harry Potter themed “potions class,” here I got to experiment with different liquors and mixing my own cocktails. I have taken a liking to darker liquors like whiskey and brandy, and much to my stepfather’s dismay I have not found a love for beer yet. However, I am willing to try anything at least once.
