Sweet Chili
When it’s cold outside there’s nothing better than the sweet aroma of chili in the air, and with so many different styles of chili you can’t go wrong with a Sweet version every once in a while. This Sweet Chili is sure to make you all nice, warm and fuzzy on the inside.
I was first introduced to sweet chili when I was a young adult in my early twenties. As a kid I was never fond of chili, I really don’t have a reason as to why, it could be at the time I just wasn’t into “hot” tasting food. One day while visiting my G-Ma we were looking through the shelves of cookbooks my grandfather had in the kitchen.
I found a cookbook that my Great Aunt Nellie (my G-Ma’s older sister) had put together with a community group she was in and as I was skimming through it came across a recipe for chili and noticed it called for sugar.
Light Bulb!
Never thought of putting sugar in chili. I always assumed chili was a “Hot” flavored dish. You know because you are always hearing of those chili cook offs where the “hottest” chili always won.
So I jumped out of my comfort zone and made chili for the first time with sugar in it and I just added my own seasoning so I choose how “hot” to make it. And yes I’ve always known that I can choose how hot I want to make my chili.
Well now I make it all the time beginning the first day of fall, or anytime the weather is below 60° really.
