Peppermint Hot Cocoa
Every year it has been a tradition of ours to have hot cocoa on Christmas Eve and watch Polar Express. The adults have Peppermint Hot Cocoa spiked with Peppermint Schnapps.
The first Christmas I worked at Total Beverage with Steven, I found that Smirnoff came out with a Peppermint Twist Vodka, and that’s not even the best part.
Smirnoff made the bottle scratch and sniff. I walked around the store for hours with that bottle just scratching and smelling it. Needless to say that bottle came home with us and we get it every year.
I have a hard time choosing between the Smirnoff Peppermint Twist and the Peppermint Schnapps but I do enjoy both of them.
Adult Version 21+
Adult Peppermint Hot Cocoa
Equipment
- 1 Heat resistant mug/cup Microwave safe mug/cup
- 1 Tea kettle
Ingredients
- 1 packet Hot Cocoa mix
- Mini Marshmallows optional
- 50 ml Peppermint Schnapps Smirnoff Peppermint Twist Vodka
- 7 oz Hot Water
- 1 Peppermint Stick
Instructions
Stove Top
- Boil water on stove in tea kettle7 oz Hot Water
- Add Hot Cocoa mix to mug/cup, add water and stir until mixed.1 packet Hot Cocoa mix
- Add shot of Peppermint Schnapps or Peppermint Twist Vodka and stir again50 ml Peppermint Schnapps
- Top with mini marshmallows and peppermint stick to garnish if desired.Mini Marshmallows, 1 Peppermint Stick
Microwave
- Add Hot Cocoa packet and water to microwave safe mug/cup1 packet Hot Cocoa mix, 7 oz Hot Water
- Put in microwave and heat for 1min.
- Take out of microwave *caution mug/cup will be hot* stir and check temperature carefully to make sure it is to your liking. If not hot enough put back into microwave for an additional 30-60secs.
- Remove from microwave *caution mug/cup will be hot* let stand for 1-2mins, add Peppermint Schnapps/Peppermint Twist Vodka50 ml Peppermint Schnapps
- Top with mini marshmallows and peppermint stick to garnish if desired.Mini Marshmallows, 1 Peppermint Stick

- 1 Heat resistant mug/cup Microwave safe mug/cup

- 1 packet Hot Cocoa mix You can also use Swiss Miss Peppermint Hot Cocoa mix if available in your store
- Mini Marshmallows optional
- 7 oz Hot Water
- 1 Peppermint Stick optional
Instructions
Stove Top
- Boil water on stove in tea kettle7 oz Hot Water
- Add Hot Cocoa mix to mug/cup, add water and stir until mixed.1 packet Hot Cocoa mix
- Top with mini marshmallows and peppermint stick to garnish if desired.Mini Marshmallows, 1 Peppermint Stick
Microwave
- Add Hot Cocoa packet and water to microwave safe mug/cup1 packet Hot Cocoa mix, 7 oz Hot Water
- Put in microwave and heat for 1min.
- Remove from microwave *caution mug/cup will be hot* stir and check temperature carefully. 1min is usually a pretty good temperature for kids
- If the temperature is still too hot, add a little milk and give a good stir. This will cool down the beverage.
- Top with mini marshmallows and peppermint stick to garnish if desired.Mini Marshmallows, 1 Peppermint Stick
