Learn More About Card and Rune Readings
Learn more about Card and Rune readings, also called divination, are a way to connect with your energy and the energy around you, this can also be referred to as your Aura. These readings are not the same as fortune-telling.
They do not tell you about your future but rather point you in the right direction to help you manifest your dreams, goals, and desires. The readings are guidance to help you connect with your subconscious and to help you understand your energy and the energy around you.
What you get out of the reading is ultimately up to you as it is an inner reflection that helps you better understand your position and how to approach it.
Asking Questions For Your Reading
Can you ask a question for your reading? Absolutely! But will you get the answer you want? Not necessarily.
You will not get a direct answer to your question in the form you think of. For example, you might ask if you will fall in love and become rich. The reading might suggest that you may find love and become wealthy.
However, it will not tell you that you will meet the person of your dreams, fall in love, and inherit their wealth. Rather the reading might suggest that you will find love and wealth while doing something you love to do the most. However, it might take some time, dedication, and hard work to achieve this.
What you interpret the reading to be saying to you and what it suggests might be completely different. If you have an answer in your mind and are not open to receiving a different answer, you will get a different outcome compared to someone open to self-reflection and an outside perspective.
As the reader, are we going to sit there and tell you exactly how to approach the situation you asked about? No, we won’t. We are only interpreting the message from the energy coming from you, the universe, etc. You are in control of your life and the actions you take to set this potential path in motion.
Does that mean we can’t give you direction? No, we most definitely can give you direction. As the reader we are interpreting the message given to us from the divination tool (cards, runes, etc.) so you as the recipient of the reading can take what resonates with your situation and can take the steps towards the right path.

Divination Tools Used for Readings
Cards-
There are several different types of decks to use when doing a reading.
- Tarot Cards
- Tarot Cards are the most popular type of cards to use for readings and have been around since the 15th century when they first emerged in Europe. Believe it or not, Tarot cards were primarily used for playing card games, just like you would today with a standard card deck.
- Oracle Cards
- Oracle Cards are similar to Tarot but have a lot fewer cards in a deck and are primarily used for a quick daily affirmation. These cards are great for beginners or for those who enjoy a quick reading and pick one to two cards to get them through the day.
- Numerology Cards
- Numerology Cards are similar to Tarot but are primarily number cards with a few Court cards along with the Suits. These cards are read using the Astrological meaning of numbers mixed with Tarot and Suit meanings. It gives you a little “bonus” to your readings.
Runes-
Runes also come in different forms.
- Sticks
- Tiles
- Stones
- Cards
- Bones
They all have the same outcome when doing a reading. It truly is all based on the personal preference of the reader on what type they prefer to use.
Types of Readings
There are several types of readings you can do. These are typically called “spreads” and are usually determined by you and the information you are seeking.
Types of Spreads include but are not limited to:
Basic Three – Card/Rune *
This spread represents Past – Present – Future. There are many representations of this spread such as.
- Beginning – Middle – End
- Thesis – Antithesis – Synthesis
- Body – Mind – Spirit
- Subconscious – Conscious – Super-conscious
- Problem/Issue – What Hinders – What Helps
- Situation – Advice – Outcome
- Self – The relationship – Other
Yes or No *
This spread can be done in many ways to answer a basic yes or no question.
These are the most common readings and good ones to get you started if you are not sure what to ask. Your question or “intention” behind the reading is important as it will help the reader focus the energy to get a more direct answer instead of a broad one. It will also help you when you are taking in the results of your reading if your intentions are set beforehand.
FAQ
If we cast a reading does that make us a Witch? No.
Are some who cast a reading Witches? Sure, it is up to them what they label themselves as. Some of us who are gifted in being able to cast a reading do this practice because we can channel our energy along with the energy around us and use this gift during the reading.
Does this make us all Witches? No. That term has a long history of misunderstanding, dating back to ancient Europe.
“Early witches were people who practiced witchcraft, using magic spells and calling upon spirits for help or to bring about change. Most witches were thought to be pagans doing the Devil’s work. Many, however, were simply natural healers or so-called “wise women” whose choice of profession was misunderstood.” (History.com 2017)
Most practice a religion known as Wiccan, an official religion in the United States and Canada. However, not all associate themselves with the Wiccan religion and still call themselves a “Witch”.
Some modern-day Witches still practice under more common religions or don’t practice under a religion at all and classify themselves spiritually as a “Witch”. However, ALL modern-day Witches are having trouble shaking their historical stereotypes.
Those who choose not to label themselves as a Witch can still have the gift of being able to channel using energy.
