G-Ma’s Christmas Fudge
It’s not Christmas without fudge. A memory I have every Christmas is my grandmothers fudge, and now name our Christmas fudge after her. G-Ma’s Christmas Fudge!
New Traditions
We started our own Christmas tradition with G-Ma when Jordyn was young and had a baking day for the holidays every year until her very last Christmas of 2019.
This tradition carried on with so many memories with G-Ma for almost 15 years, and we continue to carry it on still to this day.
Some Grandma humor
One occasion while we were out shopping for our ingredients, I mentioned that Jordyn wanted to make fudge.
I looked at my grandma and asked her if she remembered what ingredients she needed for her fudge.
She looked at me with the most perplexed look on her face, so I nicely said if she couldn’t remember we can always get the recipe when I drop her off and I’ll come back on my way home and get what we need.
My grandma looks at me and kindly asks in this sweet little voice why we keep calling this “her fudge”.
A little confused I replied “well for as long as I can remember you’ve always made fudge for Christmas and so we just started calling it G-Ma’s Christmas Fudge, and we thought it would be fun to start making it to carry on the tradition”.
Grandma looks at me and starts to giggle and says “darling there is really nothing special to my fudge and of course I remember the ingredients. I just follow the recipe on the back of the Marshmallow Fluff jar. But I love that you have named it after your dear old grandma.”
I will forever cherish that day in the baking isle at King Soopers, and will forever miss her sense of humor in everything.
