First Full Moon of the New Year
The First Full Moon of the New Year is named after the Wolves, but also has different meanings for different cultures.
Wolf Moon
The Farmer’s Almanac calls the first full moon of the year The Wolf Moon.
This moon usually falls sometime in the month of January to ring in the new year.
The story behind the name……..well it’s simple really. Winter is when the wolves are more active, and you can hear them howling more during this time of season.
Ice Moon
Europeans call the first Full Moon of January the Ice Moon. The Ice Moon is the first Full Moon after Yule
