July’s full Moon is known as the Buck Moon. Given the name, this is the season when the buck deer antlers are in full growth.

- The Cree call this moon- Feather Molting Moon
- The Tlingit call this moon- Salmon Moon, as this was the time when the fish return and are ready to be harvested.
- The Anishinaabe call this moon- Berry Moon and Halfway Summer Moon
- The Dakota call this moon-Moon When the Chokecherries are Ripe
- The Cherokee call this moon- Month of the Ripe Corn Moon
- The Algonquin and Ojibwe call this moon- Raspberry Moon
- The Western Abenaki call this moon-Thunder Moon for the stormy weather
