Autumn Equinox
There are two Equinox a year, Spring and Autumn, these represent the seasons of change. The Autumn Equinox is fast approaching, the farmers are getting ready to harvest their last crop of the year, the children have begun their continued learning as school is back in session, and we get ready as the weather starts to change from those hot summer days to cool nights and mornings.
The farmers use this time to mark the end of their harvest and to prepare for colder weather and those winter months until the seasons change again in Spring when they are preparing for the new harvest of the year.
Autumn Equinox is a time to celebrate the last harvest of the year, we harvest and prepare for the winter months coming by gathering the necessary foods and supplies that we need to survive the long cold nights and days of Winter until Spring is upon us again.
The Autumn Equinox is a moment of stillness before the Earth shifts directions. When the Sun is exactly above the Equator and day and night are of equal length.
Ways to celebrate the Autumn Equinox
- Make a gratitude list.
- Autumn Equinox represents the seasons of change and much like Spring Equinox represents new beginnings, so does the Autumn Equinox. Rearrange your home to prepare for the colder weather and the coming of the Holidays. Bring out those warm blankets and put them by the couch or your favorite reading chair.
- Make Fall crafts to decorate your home welcoming the change of the season.
- Visit your local farmers market for one last purchase, or celebrate by going to a harvest festival.
- Break out the cookbooks and crockpots and stock up the pantry, make a list of your favorite fall soups and get to cooking.
- Fill the air with your favorite fall scents, light a candle or incense. Put a pot of boiling water on the stove and add your favorite fall smells, with cloves, orange slices, cinnamon etc.
- Buy fall plants to put around your home to welcome the changing of the seasons and add some fall colors inside that will last.
- Do a Crystal Grid or put fall crystals around the house and add them to your decorations to manifest your new intentions.
